US Constitution: 1st Amendment, Establishment Clause

Goals-

My Goal- To create an interactive learner experience using Canva that uses academic, yet simple language to explain the purpose of the Establishment Clause.  Also, to make it learner-centered where the learner must examine the ruling of a SCOTUS court case to determine the impact of the clause. 

Lesson Goal/Objective- After completing the learner experience, the learner will be able to explain the purpose and impact of the Establishment Clause of the 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution on Americans' religious freedoms with 100% accuracy. 

Process- 

Needs Analysis- A formative assessment on the First Amendment revealed that students were struggling to accurately understand the Establishment Clause, putting their success on the upcoming summative assessment at risk. To address this learning gap, a targeted instructional experience was developed to reinforce and clarify key concepts.

Lesson Design- The lesson design gains the learner's attention by using engaging visuals. The content is presented in small, manageable chunks clearly and concisely. The lesson is also a choice board that gives the learner options on what case to examine and what type of multimedia program to use to present their findings. 

Interactive Elements- The learner must interact with the presentation to advance the slides and to select the case overview they choose to examine. 

Tone and Accessibility- The tone of the lesson is academic, but simple language is used to allow the learner to grasp the concepts faster. The smaller chunks of content and self-paced setting allow the learner to take their time to comprehend the information presented.
